Frequently asked questions
What size bike do I need for my height?
Roughly: under 160 cm (5′3″) XS–S, 160–170 cm (5′3″–5′7″) S, 170–180 cm (5′7″–5′11″) M, 180–188 cm (5′11″–6′2″) L, over 188 cm (6′2″) XL. Road and gravel bikes are often sized in cm (49–61), mountain bikes in S–XL.
Is height or inseam more important?
Height gets you to the right size range; inseam decides between two sizes. Long legs for your height → the bigger size; shorter legs → the smaller size.
How do I measure my inseam?
Stand barefoot with your back to a wall, push a hardback book up between your legs like a saddle, keep it level and measure from the floor to the top of the book.
Is there a formula for frame size?
A classic rule of thumb: road frame size (cm) ≈ inseam (cm) × 0.665, mountain bike frame size (inches) ≈ inseam (cm) × 0.226. Modern bikes are sized by reach and stack, so treat it as a rough check only.
